Joanna Davies
Joanna Davies
Chief Executive Officer

Joanna is CEO + Founder of ZAK, an independent creative agency with a singular focus: we generate big brand ideas that engage under 30s. ZAK is New Balance’s lead creative agency for Football. Other clients include the BBC, the Wellcome Trust, Vodafone Afrimax and War Child. It’s Joanna’s role to drive ZAK forward and future proof the business. As an entrepreneurial rule breaker, she drives continuous improvement by challenging and developing the offer, hiring the best talent, and is ultimately responsible for staff and client satisfaction.

Ambitious and self starting by nature, Joanna started life working for two brothers who were leaders in business across their investments in the property, tech and leisure sectors. By 25 Joanna was Head of Group Marketing for a major pub company and by 29 Joanna had set up her first business, a marketing consultancy turning around underperforming businesses and brands.

As Chief Creative Officer, Matt is responsible for driving forward the creative output of the agency and creative strategy for brands striving for change. Matt was ZAK’s creative lead launching New Balance Football into the global market, and has overseen its growth as a global player alongside Puma, Nike and Adidas. Under Matt’s creative leadership, ZAK has since worked with global clients across most consumer lifestyle categories, including New Balance, Reebok, Vodafone, L’Oréal, Magners Cider, Bacardi Brown Forman Brands and Heineken Brands.

Starting his career as a designer specialising in branding and typography he has worked in various agency roles and disciplines throughout his career. He now has over 24 years’ experience in the creative industry across advertising, comms, brand strategy and design. Matt has always felt there is a need for more challenging insight and bolder creative thinking from both clients and agencies to increase commercial returns for brands.
