John Doe

Core disciplines: Branded content, Digital, Public relations (PR)

After the success of the first ‘Grow’ event in 2015, John Doe were asked to return and help build the two day event designed to surprise, inspire and excite some of Facebook’s senior level clients with leading cultural and technology speakers.

Our focus was to build conversations around three core concepts:

Accessibility of culture

The definition of curation

Turning passions into profit

‘The Changing Face of Culture’

A conversation between three change makers who are challenging the norm by creating their own movements in opening culture up and making it more accessible. Dom Cools-Lartigue (Founder of Street Feast), Alex Chinneck (Artist) and Fabien Riggall (Founder of Secret Cinema).

‘The Art of Curation’

From art curators to DJs, from Amazon to Instagram, the craft of selecting a small set from the overwhelming abundance of choice, is increasingly becoming a major mode of discovery. We explored curatorship in the modern age. Panel moderated by Rob Bound (Culture Editor, Monocle) with Lauren Laverne (Broadcaster and Founder of The Pool) and Sarah Mann (Director of Architecture, Fashion & Design for the British Council).

‘My Unconventional Path from Music to Cheese’

Alex James is world renowned as one quarter of the ground-breaking Brit-pop group Blur and now as the found favour in being the coolest of cheese connoisseurs. Alex spoke through how his music career paved the way to owning the award winning artisan cheese business ‘Alex James Presents’ via the rather unconventional route of 7 studio albums, 14 platinum discs, and buying a rundown farm on a whim.
