The brief

The Prince’s Trust came to Blueprint with a brief to elevate the scale and stature of the Celebrate Success Awards. They wanted to make the show as special as possible and recognise the incredible achievements of the young people involved by putting them at the heart of the event.

Our solution

The Celebrate Success Awards have been run by the Prince’s Trust for 12 years to recognise disadvantaged young people who have overcome issues such as abuse, drug addiction, homelessness, depression and unemployment.

We were initially asked to run the 2015 awards final at the Odeon Leicester Square, and following the success of that event we were then commissioned to take control of the entire process from end-to-end.

This comprises the regional award ceremonies, 11 Oscar-style events across the country with panels of celebrity judges to hear the inspirational stories of young people across seven award categories, and the national awards which brings together finalists from each of the regions in a special VIP event. In 2016 this took place at the London Palladium.

Tasked with making the event special for all involved and improving the overall execution of the finals, we deliver every aspect of the show to the exacting standards of Clarence House.   The attendance of the Prince of Wales requires world class planning and security arrangements, including the closure of busy central London roads around the venue for the arrival of His Royal Highness, all co-ordinated by Blueprint.

But the real stars of the show are the young people involved and every effort is made to make them feel special. Our set design, venue dressing and production are all focused on creating a celebratory environment for them.

In 2016 we live streamed the arrival of the young people and the myriad of VIP guests on the red carpet into the auditorium. This innovation not only allowed us to extend the experience for those that had already taken their seats, but was also available online for friends and family that weren’t able to make the trip to London to ensure that they didn’t miss out on a moment of the extra special day for the young finalists.

The popular event is well supported by celebrities, and our 40 special young people and 1200 guests enjoyed a night to remember with the seven winners receiving their awards on stage from Prince Charles and hosts Ant & Dec.
