With Free Super Tips operating in a highly and increasingly competitive market, they came to us in search of a new SEO strategy that would increase traffic to the website and recover key ranking positions.
Our solution was defined by a two-tiered approach. Firstly, we needed to carry out vital technical fixes surrounding the URL structure and redirects, to ensure Free Super Tips could rank competitively for key terms.
To build on this foundation, we then launched strategic and creative-led PR campaigns to gain high quality links, citations and mentions to build authority. We delivered highly topical, targeted and reactive campaigns designed for not only sports fans, but sport journalists too.
Premier League 'pie taster' competition
The half-term pie has become a ritual for many football fans - so we came up with the idea of offering a football foodie the chance of a lifetime to become an official 'Pie Taster'.
The campaign achieved coverage from the likes of the The Sun and The Mirror, as well as coverage in Italy, Spain, and Ukraine. We achieved 147 linking domains (116 in the first 24 hours!).
The Love of the Game
Launched around Valentine’s Day, we ran a lighthearted campaign about “how the love of the game is changing the game of love” using our own research on football fans’ real commitment to the sport.
Targeting national, sport and regional media, we earned 50+ items of coverage including Talk Sport, Manchester Evening News, Sport Bible and secured 30 backlinks.
This campaign focused on how satisfied fans really were with their clubs. By analysing various data points we calculated ‘fan satisfaction’ scores, showcased through an interactive league table on Free Super Tips’ website.
The campaign achieved 48 items of coverage and 41 links.
Through a combination of on-site technical improvements and strategic off-site campaigns, we were able to have a measurable impact on search visibility and rankings.
Free Super Tips regained the top spot for a number of important football searches including "Football tips", "Football predictions" and "Free Football tips" and off the back of these improvements, a number of long tail keywords achieved the top spot too.
