The new educational program me for emerging creatives has been launched in partnership with youth-led digital media platform GUAP
For adidas, championing the next generation of talent has been a core focus for the brand. In continuation of this ongoing goal the sports giant is launching ‘The Originals Creator Network’, an educational programme for emerging young creatives in London.
The programme has been founded in partnership with youth-led digital media platform GUAP, a creative network and agency with years of experience in nurturing young talent and building diverse, creative communities on behalf of under-represented young Londoners. Together, adidas and GUAP will facilitate a programme of activity designed to aid the development of participants and excel the journeys of the next generation of talent.
“At adidas, we are passionate about providing inclusive opportunities to support young talent in cities across the world. In London, through our Carnaby Street Originals Store, we are partnering with GUAP to bring this to life, creating a platform to develop the skills of participants in this initiative with the support of an inspirational set of mentors.” explained Chris Walsh, VP Brand, adidas North Europe.
The programme will see aspiring innovators develop their skills across a 12-month period in creative workshops led by industry leaders. Sessions will provide the creatives with access to brand mentors and allow them to receive commissions to work on live Originals projects. The programme will take place at the Originals Carnaby Street store which will act as a learning hub for the programme that will provide both in-person and online guidance throughout.
“Having tangible role models/mentors and accessible spaces is key when trying to elevate in the creative industry.” added Jide Adetunji co-founder of GUAP; “With so many youth clubs and affordable venues being shut down it’s harder than ever to be an emerging creative. This network aims to provide skill-sharing through some of the best young professionals in their fields and an inspirational space to work in and network”.
The online application process is now open and will be live until 23rd February with successful applicants commencing the course in April 2022.
