On Thursday 19th April 2012 Creativebrief Founder & Chairman Tom Holmes was delighted to be able to support Creative Edinburgh’s “Creative & Corporate Love” event on the Leith Agency Boat, Mary de Guise Barge, and be one of the first marketing industry speakers to get behind this Edinburgh city focused business initiative aimed at creative entrepreneurs.

Tom’s subject was “where commerce meets creativity” and he talked about his own creative journey through the world of marketing communications and why he created Creativebrief and the Edinburgh International Marketing Festival.

Creative & Corporate Love has now become a permanent feature in the Creative Edinburgh programme after introducing it in April.

This event aimed to bring the creative and corporate communities together in an informal and networking-friendly atmosphere. The benefit of working together is becoming more and more apparent in the current climate we are living in, and this event aimed to spark collaborations, contacts and opportunities with sectors and budgets that are ‘hard to reach’.

Other speakers on the night included:

Fi Milligan Rennie
Fiona is an Arts Learning Specialist and Drama Artist. Also, a writer, director, project & production manager, and turns out, rather a funny lady when it comes to compering events.

Yann Seznec
Yann is an artist, musician and founder of Edinburgh creative studio, Lucky Frame. Their work focuses on physical interaction, accessible art and music, games and instruments.

About Creative Edinburgh

Creative Edinburgh acts as the respected platform to promote the capital’s creative talent both nationally and internationally. Offering a programme which reflects the consensus of Edinburgh’s creative business community needs, we aim to inspire and ignite working relationships across sectors.

By association, Creative Edinburgh members have the opportunity to meet other like-minded professionals at programmed networking events, professional development workshops, inspirational talks and symposiums, facilitated mentoring, skill sharing and investment opportunities.

Not only that, through their members’ portfolio, can showcase your work to your peers and the world at large, in order to enhance your opportunities and grow your abilities, as well as your businesses.

Values

The people behind Creative Edinburgh run their own businesses and therefore understand the challenges of running a creative enterprise. Their experiences and those of their peers is what has designed the Creative Edinburgh vision, plugging a gap that the creative sector can benefit from.

Here are some of the values they are committed to bringing to this organisation:

  • They empathise with the challenges and needs of the sector.
  • They will build a relevant and valued service for our members.
  • They will bring creative businesses together to meet, discuss and collaborate.
  • They will develop stronger opportunities between members, industry and academia.
  • They will create genuine relationships between members, partners and potential investors.
