The atrocities of the war in Ukraine have seen many Ukrainian children forced to flee from their homes and start new lives in the UK. As of February this year, the UK has welcomed 115,000 Ukrainians.

Moving to a strange new place can be daunting for anyone, but especially for children who may not know the language. These children have not only been forced to start again somewhere new but have also experienced trauma many of us simply cannot comprehend.  

Mother London is striving to help Ukrainian children feel more at home in the UK by welcoming them with some ‘Friendly Faces.’ The agency has created Friendly Faces sticker packs that feature a range of well-known characters from Ukrainian cartoons o help the thousands of displaced Ukrainian children in the UK feel even more welcome.

The sticker packs are available to order for free and audiences are encouraged to place the stickers around their local surroundings, in the hopes that Ukrainian children walking around their new environments might see some recognisable faces and feel a little more at home. 

Each free Friendly Faces sticker pack contains well-known Ukrainian cartoon characters from Mavka. The characters all recently appeared in BBC show Hey Duggee thanks to Mother’s ongoing campaign. 

The simple project shows how a small act of kindness can have a huge real-world impact. When the creative industry uses its unique ability to spread a message with empathy at its core, it has the power to make a truly positive difference.
