After months of development and testing, the much anticipated STR14 hit the track for the first time in February at the Misano World Circuit ahead of F1 2019. Gramafilm were tasked with capturing drivers Daniil Kvyat, and F1 newcomer Alexander Albon turning the wheel for the first time.
With it being both the debut of the STR14 and drive Alexander Albon, it’s safe to say tensions were high. Every second of track time was precious with just a limited 100km run available.
Faced with the crippling velocity of an F1 car, we needed some heavy firepower in our arsenal to capture the action. Our five camera trackside team consisting of: 2 x ARRI Amiras, Phantom and Red Gemini, accompanied by an on-track ShotOver G1 with RussianArm Mini, a high speed race drone and onboard GoPros. No turn of the steering wheel, corner or wheel spin was left undocumented.
The films gathered hundreds of thousands of organic views within days, giving F1 fans the chance to go behind the scenes and find out exactly what went into the spanking new STR14’s engineering, build and team ahead of the season.
