CHALLENGE

Back in 2013, De Beers started a new movement. With the launch of the exclusive ‘For you, Forever’ in-store consultation service, their mission was to help customers craft their perfect engagement ring. A ring that’s bespoke, unique and exciting.

But in 2013, the world started moving to digital. Customers were increasingly shopping and exploring products online; and in-store staff were lacking the tools to make their sales more efficient. To cater to this new reality, De Beers needed to digitalise. And that’s when Somo came in. 


METHOD

With user-centric design at the heart of the process, our cross-functional team identified the right product approach and digital strategy to replicate the luxurious in-store experience. 

Using cutting-edge technologies such as geolocation, we designed and built a responsive customer-facing website with a frictionless flow and best-in-class user experience. 

To drive sales and support De Beers in-store brand ambassadors, we also delivered an iPad application with a seamless back-end system integration, real-time stock availability, regular inventory updates, bespoke diamond ring creation functionality, and a beautiful interface showcasing – and selling – De Beers diamond range with stylish elegance. 


RESULTS

Both tools were a global success. Stunningly curated and vastly enhancing in-store user experience, the app paid for itself within just two weeks since its launch.
