Aldi is leaning on the festive firepower of seasonal film classic ‘Home Alone’ in its Christmas spot starring Kevin the Carrot from McCann UK.
Following on from the football themed teaser campaign the family have all rushed off on a Christmas trip of a lifetime to Paris and poor Kevin is left alone to fend off some unwelcome intruders. Yet rather than Macaulay Culkin the hero Kevin of this story is Aldi’s beloved Kevin the Carrot back in a Christmas campaign that puts a vegetable spin on Home Alone.

The carrot, who is ‘Quaking in his roots’, devises a plan to warn off the uninvited guests. The mayhem commences as the signature Home Alone slapstick pranks and traps follow with a variety of fun, incident-packed exchanges between Kevin and the intruder. Eventually Kevin declares victory over the intruder and the family are reunited again with a cameo from Father Christmas himself, ending on the heartfelt festive message that Christmas is about time spent together with loved ones.

“Christmas celebrates the joy of being with loved ones and this year more than ever we all need a bit of light entertainment as we celebrate the season together.” says Adam Zavalis, Marketing Director at Aldi UK in a nod to the challenging times consumers are facing and highlighting the fact that in the midst of a cost of living crisis, joy and togetherness have never been more important.

He added: “It wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens, and this year’s Yuletide performance is sure to get the nation shouting ‘KEVIN!’ as we welcome him back for the seventh year.”

For at Christmas, spending time together and revisiting our old festive favourites are key ingredients for conjuring that warm fuzzy feeling.
