The programme, run in partnership with WYK Digital is focused on supporting under-served and under-represented young people
Omnicom Media Group (OMG) UK is marking its 100th successful placement in its programme to drive accessibility in digital careers run in partnership with WYK Digital.
WYK Digital is a not-for-profit social enterprise, run in partnership with The Prince’s Trust. The programme is designed to support under-served and under-represented young people.
Over 80% of OMG’s programme trainees hail from minority backgrounds.
The 100th successful placement was secured by Manchester-born Hatim Ahmed. A three-month course commissioned by the Prince’s Trust helped Ahmed realise his desire to work in digital marketing, and with the help of WYK, he secured his placement at MG OMD.
Through 11-week, full-time digital marketing training accelerators, young individuals from diverse backgrounds are given the tools to excel in the digital marketing industry. By providing free training and hands-on experience through live digital marketing campaigns with real businesses, it equips the trainees with the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in the field.
Of OMG UK’s successful placements so far, 80% are from minority backgrounds, 44% don’t have a degree, 69% are female, and 18% have further support needs. After completing the training programme, WYK Digital actively assists its trainees in securing employment opportunities.
At WYK Digital, we firmly believe in the power of digital marketing as a vehicle for social change. By specifically focusing on under-served and under-represented communities, we are creating opportunities and fostering diversity within the industry.
