The National Maritime Museum has appointed branding agency SomeOne handle a rebranding project, ahead of the London Olympics in 2012.

The rebrand work, which also encompasses the Royal Observatory, Greenwich and The Queen's House, Greenwich, will be ongoing, but the first stage is expected to be completed at the start of 2011.

The agency's appointment follows a pitch against four undisclosed agencies, handled by Creativebrief. The process initially kicked off in February.

Kevin Fewster, director of the NMM, the largest maritime museum in the world said: "It was clear they [SomeOne] understood Greenwich as a destination and the cultural sector in which we operate. We're looking forward to working with them."

Earlier this month, The Museum of London rolled out its biggest marketing campaign to date to support its new £20m Galleries of Modern London exhibitions.
