During lockdown, the importance of personal space became more evident than ever before; lockdown meant that consumers spent more time than ever at home.

A state of stillness which spurred the migration of people from the smaller spaces of cities and into larger spaces in the suburbs that they could make their own. This growing trend inspired global retail design agency, Sheridan&Co, to launch its first D2C company, Fokus Garden Rooms; multifunctional spaces that can be constructed and personalised within even the smallest gardens.

Lockdowns proved that the space in the home is invaluable and so Fokus Garden Rooms created a proposition that allows customers to create a garden space tailored to their individual needs. Be it a gardening games room or a personalised office space, these insulated, A1 fire rated rooms are built to last and can even be connected to mains or solar electricity to maximise garden space.

To showcase some of the many ways the rooms can be used, Sheridan&Co has launched a series of unique collaborations. The first of which is with Fokus and Mr Porter-based brand, The Art of Ping Pong. A collaboration which showcases exceptional design, functionality and creativity that combine to result in a games room like no other.

The Fokus x The Art of Ping Pong collaboration brings Ping Pong subculture into a contemporary design space with bursts of colour and artwork. The project has two variations: The Art of Ping Pong playroom and a multi-purpose office space that transforms into a games room out of hours. Inspired by the Olympics in Tokyo, the Ping Pong themed rooms exemplify one of the many ways a sports fan might utilise their garden space. Through stylish bursts of colour, Ping Pong themed accessories and a sleek foldable table, audiences are shown the versatility of the Fokus space combined with the excitement of The Art of Ping Pong’s brand.

The collaboration is designed to show consumers the potential of the space. Within the installation, the Fokus garden room acts as a canvas by which The Art of Ping Pong can insert their designs into a physical environment. The collaboration is even more poignant as the brands share a passion for accessibility within small spaces. Like Fokus, The Art of Ping Pong offers their clients unique products such as the ionic Art Tables that can be hung on the wall until the individual wishes to take it down and use it, reserving space.

“Both the creation of our ArtTables and Fokus Garden Rooms come from the understanding that space is almost always in short supply in the modern world. And so we were delighted when Fokus approached us to partner with them in creating a space dedicated to our love of design, art and ping pong alike.” explained Algy Batten, founder at The Art of Ping Pong.

“What we love about our collaboration with Art of Ping Pong is that both brands are born out of a passion for creativity and craftsmanship”, explains Freddie Sheridan, co-founder at Fokus. “they both evolve in line with an acute respect for the needs of our customers. The partnership has given us the perfect opportunity to articulate a bolder, more expressive side to the Fokus brand and we cannot wait to see how people respond.”

The installation is not only about creating rooms but about truly exciting and inspiring customers. For many, the space around them is crucial to happiness and to find creative ways to maximise the existing space within the home is exciting, especially when done in such a visually appealing manner.
