Disney+ celebrates a lifetime of stories

The brand-building campaign reinforces Disney’s 100-year heritage and commitment to storytelling.

Celebrating its 100-year heritage, Disney+ has released the latest iteration of its ‘A Lifetime of Great Stories’ campaign. The spot follows a young boy who grows up with Disney and the stories that stay with him for a lifetime.

Created by VCCP, a campaign film brings to life the breadth and scale of movies, original TV shows and well-loved hits available to watch on Disney+. The creative is an ode to the brand’s heritage in world class storytelling. 

‘Under The Bed’ tells the story of a little boy who discovers his love for stories as a child watching Disney’s Monsters Inc. The film follows the young boy grow up, engaging with the stories that stay with him and form his character.

As a teen, he watches ‘The Sixth Sense’, while in his twenties we see him watching ‘The Walking Dead’. Finally, as an adult, having had two children of his own, we see him watching FX’s “Alien: Earth”. Throughout the film we can see how the boy has changed and grown up, and how Disney stories are a crucial part of his story. 

The cinematic film was directed by Stefanie Soho through Smuggler. It follows the same compelling structure as timeless Disney movies, using storytelling to draw in audiences who can relate to the protagonist and spark their own memories of Disney stories.

“When I first got the script, I immediately had that slightly embarrassing thought of, “Oh god… I still kind of do this.” That feeling of being shaped by the stories you grew up with never really leaves you, and that’s what made this brief so special to me from the start. It had warmth, humour, nostalgia, suspense, all wrapped inside these little, very human, instantly relatable moments,” said Stefanie Soho, Director.

The spot is set to a bespoke version of Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’, reimagined to complement the narrative and emotional journey.

"At its heart, the campaign is about the enduring nature of a great story, the way it can shape us, and the evolution of the stories we encounter at different stages of our lives. With ‘Under The Bed’, director Stefanie Soho brings that idea to life in a way that feels both cinematic and grounded in reality,” says Emma Quartly, Vice President of Marketing for Disney+ EMEA.

The campaign is set to run across EMEA across TV, VOD, cinema and social channels. Media planning and buying has been led by Publicis Imagine.
