The limited edition streetwear collection capitalises on the combined cultural firepower of esports and anime.
Esports organisation G2 has partnered with one of the biggest anime series in the world, One Piece, to create a streetwear line.
The collection, which launched at the end of June, is made up of wearable streetwear inspired by the anime’s Gear 5 Monkey D. Luffy.
One Piece is one of the biggest anime in the world, with over 600 million manga copies sold and more than 1,160 episodes. The collaboration combines Esports and anime to appeal to global fandoms in the fashion space. The collection is the latest in G2’s growing lineup of anime apparel collaborations.
“At G2, we’re continuing to push the culture and fashion of esports beyond competition alone, and this One Piece collection is a natural extension of that,” explains Sabrina Ratih, COO of G2 Esports.
The collection features hoodies, zip-ups, t-shirts, caps, sleeves, and tote bags designed on the One Piece ethos of courage, loyalty, and determination shared by the series’ Straw Hat Crew. Combining One Piece with G2, each piece has a custom G2 and One Piece Jolly Roger that combines the G2 samurai emblem with Luffy’s iconic straw hat.
Designed in sleek black and white with a minimalist embroidered logo, the collection combines fandom with style to create understated items fans can wear. The understated items are a subtle nod to those in the know.
“We wanted to create a capsule that continues to elevate the esports fashion space - understated, premium, and stylish enough for everyday wear, while still carrying the spirit of adventure, ambition, and individuality that defines One Piece and G2 alike. Every piece is designed to bridge the gap between fandom and everyday style, and continuing our mission to redefine what esports fashion can be,” added Ratih.
Since its 1999 premiere, One Piece has been the best-selling manga of all time. The series follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew across the Grand Line in search of the legendary treasure.
G2 has over 30 million fans worldwide. The One Piece collaboration comes following the success of its recent sell-out anime collaboration with Solo Leveling. Through partnerships, G2 is striving to create storytelling that blends esports, culture, and lifestyle.
