When you are tired of the John Lewis Christmas ad, you are tired of advertising (perhaps.) If the Christmas advertising season is the UK’s equivalent of the Super Bowl then John Lewis is the always the most-watched team.

Busting the myth of the ‘difficult second album’ syndrome on an annual basis, adam&eveDDB 2022’s campaign will mark the fourteenth festive spot for the retailer.

The social teaser, which has already attracted a host of brand replies, (Specsavers is hoping it’s about contact lenses) features a Christmas tree being pushed down a dark suburban street on a skateboard.

Last year in the wake of a pandemic which had placed precious Christmas plans on hold for so long, the brand hit all the right notes with an alien-themed spot set to the soundtrack of ’Together in Electric Dreams’.

Previous spots have brought with them the merchandising joy of Excitable Edgar, Moz the Monster, Monty the Penguin and Buster the Boxer, amongst others.
