To tie in with the British and Irish Lions’ first test against Australia over the weekend, Sky Sports is giving audiences a unique insight into the team on tour in a new mockumentary style video.

The tongue-in-cheek campaign gives audiences a behind the scenes peak into what goes on when the players think the cameras aren’t rolling. Featuring Lions stars Tom Curry, Tadhg Beirne, Ollie Chessum and James Lowe, the comedic spot showcases life on the road from bedtime stories and skincare routines.

The playful video is available to watch in full on Youtube. It is fronted by social media star Paul Olima or ‘Rolling Thunder’ in the role of a camera operator who stops at nothing to get the shots fans want.

Audiences are shown behind the scenes by Olima as Sky’s Dan Biggar and Sam Warburton recall tales of previous tours and joke around with presenter Alex Payne. Players channel their inner ‘Zoolander’ to take their on-screen headshots and joke around with one another showing how close they can get as roommates.

The footage brings audiences in to show a different, more jovial unseen side to the Lions, including Zander Fagerson, Garry Ringrose, Scott Cummings and Pierre Schoeman.

Alongside the full-length YouTube spot, content is available across X, TikTok and Instagram, including a bonus blooper reel complete with outtakes, missed cues and moments of questionable acting that didn’t make the final cut.

The content is part of Sky Sport’s ongoing mission to bring audiences closer to the action. By showcasing a different side to the players the broadcaster successfully broadens the narrative and creates excitement around the games.

Offering exclusive access, expert insight and immersive storytelling, Sky Sports establishes itself as the home of British & Irish Lions coverage, only on Sky Sports or to stream via NOW.
