The beloved carrot is set to return in a Christmas story with a romantic twist.
The festive season is right around the corner, which can only mean one thing: Kevin the Carrot is back.
Aldi has unveiled a teaser for its new festive campaign, which sees the beloved Kevin the Carrot return in a story with a romantic Christmas twist.
This year’s campaign, created by McCann Manchester, is an episodic journey of love. It sees Kevin embark on a romantic, Christmas rom-com-inspired quest, culminating in the proposal to Katie the Carrot.
An initial teaser for the campaign shows Kevin and Katie's cauliflower dog with a ring attached to its collar, waiting excitedly outside Katie’s house. Kevin delivers a queue-card declaration of love, asking Katie the big question in a moment designed to delight and captivate audiences.
The romantic opener is just the beginning, with two more films set to unfold throughout the festive period, promising the fun, charm and surprises of an Aldi Christmas.
“We’re delighted to bring back Kevin the Carrot to screens this Christmas as we mark his 10 year anniversary, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy our three, festive, and fun-packed adverts during the festive season,” says Kyrsten Halley, Marketing Director at Aldi UK.
The story is set to unfold as part of a multi-channel campaign through various media partnerships managed by Starcom.
Audiences can look forward to a first of its kind ‘breaking news’ spot with ITV and Scarlett Moffatt, a cover wrap across Reach’s flagship celebrity magazine, OK!, and will be able to engage with the campaign at various touchpoints, including TikTok and DOOH.
“For 9 years, Kevin the Carrot has had an action-packed Christmas. He’s ‘borrowed' the Coke truck, flown an F14 with a co-pilot called Turkey and rescued the Christmas Spirit. In all that time, Kevin’s been too busy to ask the important question. And I don’t mean ‘Can I have the last mince pie?’ So, for year 10 we've gone for a more heartwarming and celebratory tale. Move over Gavin and Stacey… have we got a 24 Carrot love story for you,” says Dave Price, Chief Creative Officer, at McCann Manchester.
With the story set to unfold throughout the festive period, audiences will be able to bask in Kevin’s charm and enjoy the steady build-up to the big day.
