The industry charity has introduced grants to support people in advertising through the financial crisis
Industry charity NABS is taking practical action to support people in advertising to navigate the cost of living crisis with the launch of a new grant.
The Cost of Living Grant is a one-off £1,000 grant that will be given to those who are experiencing financial challenges in key areas, for example struggling to pay bills or buy food.
Industry professionals who are facing financial barriers and have less than £5k in savings can apply for this grant. A list of eligibility criteria is available to view on NABS’ website. NABS is also recognising and highlighting that those from marginalised groups may be more greatly impacted by the crisis and therefore encourages and welcomes applications from all areas of our industry.
This is the first time that NABS has offered a specific grant in response to a financial crisis. The first of a kind cost of living grant will be available to apply for four months from this November, to cover higher costs over the winter months.
Lorraine Jennings-Creed, director of wellbeing services and culture change at NABS, explained: “A significant number of people in our industry will need to adjust how they prioritise their outgoings. Some may need to make difficult choices about how they manage and meet their basic needs.”
She continued: “As the support organisation for our industry, NABS wants to offer some practical and speedy help and that’s why we’ve reacted quickly by creating the Cost-of-Living Grants which will be the first part of our Financial Wellbeing offer.

Jennings-Creed noted that charity is open for both applications and conversations about the dedicated grant. “We’re encouraging people to identify where they need help by reading the Cost of Living Grant criteria on our website or to contact us for an informal chat so that they can apply,” she added.
The investment and speed of the grants reflects NABS ongoing commitment to action and impact. An impact which is funded by the organisations and individuals across the industry who donate to and support NABS.
Jennings-Creed explained: “We’ve been able to move really quickly on this and we hope that people will now come forward to access the help that we can offer them. We are hugely grateful to everybody who donates to NABS, as their generosity has made all of this possible.”
NABS is further building on its financial support service this winter with a free online lunchtime NABS talk with Kia Commodore, financial guru and money saving expert on 24 November. To book a ticket, click here.
Adlanders who do not meet the eligibility criteria for a Cost of Living Grant but are still worried and in need of help should contact the NABS Advice Line or explore NABS’ other click here to explore NABS other Grants.
