Creativebrief reveals rise of social-first marketing in new report
The Social Sells 2.0 report uncovers how senior marketing leaders are increasing investment in social media.
The mini soap idents feature fan favourites, fresh storylines and new visual and hearing mishaps.
Specsavers has renewed its sponsorship of ITV’s Emmerdale through to the end of 2026 and is running fresh new ‘mini soap’ idents with signature Specsavers humour.
The new ‘mini soap within a soap’ idents will continue on from where they left off. Packed with visual and hearing mishaps, the spots star show fan favourites and fresh new storylines.
Ten new executions feature familiar faces and new characters, including fan favourites Bev and Barry.
The punchy, humorous spots feature the characters in sticky situations that build to perfectly timed punchlines before cutting to the familiar ‘Specsavers sponsors Emmerdale’ sign-off screen.
One new iteration features Bev, who launches into a full soap-style confrontation after spotting what she thinks is an earring in the sofa. Yet, it turns out that the ‘evidence’ is just a pork scratching. Another features Jean, who mishears her husband speaking about an aubergine. Instead, she hears “It’s over, Jean” and crumbles into an unnecessary emotional meltdown.
The playful spots riff on Specsaves trademark humour around visual and hearing misunderstandings and combine the comedy with classic soap-style drama.
"Our partnership with Emmerdale has given us a brilliant creative playground to build stories that viewers genuinely enjoy. By extending the sponsorship and launching new idents, we’re able to keep evolving the ‘mini soap’ format while continuing to make conversations around sight and hearing feel entertaining, relatable and human,” says Victoria Clarke, Marketing Director at Specsavers.
The idents are strategically placed around individual episodes and will vary depending on the tone and storyline of the broadcast. Digital formats will run across ITVX.
The partnership was strategically led by MG OMD, which identified Emmerdale as a strong fit for Specsavers based on audience and viewing analysis. Creative was developed by Specsavers Creative, with production handled by Another Film Company.
