Creativebrief reveals rise of social-first marketing in new report
The Social Sells 2.0 report uncovers how senior marketing leaders are increasing investment in social media.
The initiative calls on audiences to sign a petition calling for effective tampon regulations.
What do a sausage, a cigarette, a car air freshener and a balloon all have in common? They have all been through more safety regulations than a Tampon.
This is the insight which sits at the heart of a bold new campaign from period care company TOTM. The ad calls out a lack of tampon regulation by spotlighting the absurd products that have been through more rigorous safety testing than a product millions of people put inside their bodies every month.
Currently, tampons are listed as a consumer product, meaning there are no requirements for any tampon company to disclose what ingredients they use or to test the products for pesticides. The new initiative from TOTM aims to encourage people to sign a new petition calling for effective tampon safety regulations.
Created with the help of creative agency Joan London, the campaign titled ‘Safer Than a Tampon’ raises awareness of the lack of regulation. The campaign is made up of a campaign video, fly posters across central London and campaign T-shirts that spotlight the products that are more regulated than tampons. While a LinkedIn strategy aims to rally support and petition signatures.
The creative focuses on the absurd products more heavily regulated than tampons. From candles to sausages, condoms and balloons, the comparisons spotlight the lack of knowledge we have around tampons and encourages audiences to question what they put inside their bodies.
TOTM is a brand rallying for more education around periods and provides its customers with the information they need to make informed choices about the products they use.
The brand believes that product-specific regulations are vital to ensure robust safety testing, transparent labelling, and ongoing monitoring to protect public health. The initiative aims to drum up public support and gain enough signatures on their petition (100,000) for a debate on the topic in parliament.
By spotlighting health inequalities and challenging the entire sector to be more transparent, TOTM pushes for positive change.
@totmorganic Tampon regulation hasn’t kept pace with modern science, safety standards or women’s health. It takes 30 seconds to change 95 years of unregulated period care.
